SciR Labs terms

The lab agreement, in plain words.

These terms are between Omelette Inc., USA ("we", "us") and the lab head who starts SciR Labs ("you"), for your lab. You accept them before your lab starts. Our terms of use and privacy policy also apply. If they differ, these terms win for SciR Labs.

What SciR Labs gives your lab

• Up to 10 people, you included, on one plan.
• For each person: SciRead Premium (all looks, player controls, no ads), and no ads in PubMed Hub, Research Connect and Research Notes, while your plan is paid.
• A lab list: papers you pick for everyone, with a due day and a note.
• For you: who finished each lab paper, who is partway, and who has not started, in the SciRead app and in SciR Labs Admin.
• Help by our contact page. We work to keep SciRead running, but we do not promise a set uptime.

What you agree to

• You may sign up for your lab, and you add only people you have the right to add.
• Before you add someone, you tell them that you will see which lab papers they finished. SciRead tells them too.
• You keep your sign-in safe. You remove people who leave the lab.
• You use SciR Labs only in lawful ways.

Price and paying

• $19.99 a month, or $199.99 a year, for up to 10 people. More than 10: write to us.
• You buy SciR Labs only on omeletteinc.com/SciR. Payment is by card through our payment partner Stripe. It renews each month or each year until you stop it.
• Sales tax: labs at a university or academic research institute pay no sales tax. Private companies pay sales tax where the law asks for it. Tell us the truth about which one you are.
• Price changes apply from your next renewal after we tell you.
• Stop any time in SciR Labs Admin, Plan and bills. Your lab keeps working until the end of the time you paid for.
• Refunds: none for part of a month or year, unless the law says we must. If we charged you by mistake, we fix it.
• If a payment fails, we email you. After 7 days without payment, the lab extras turn off until it is paid.

Data

• You see only lab papers: who finished them and how far each person got. You never see anything else a person listens to, reads or saves.
• When you remove a person, their lab access stops at once. Their own SciRead account stays theirs.
• How we look after data is in our privacy policy. Data is kept on our server in the United States.

Ending

• You can end SciR Labs any time by stopping your plan.
• We may stop a lab for unpaid bills after 7 days, or for abuse or a break of these terms. When we can, we tell you first and say why.
• We keep your lab list so you can start again, until you ask us to delete it. We then delete it within 30 days.

Warranty and liability

SciR Labs is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. SciRead reads published research and books aloud; it is not medical advice. We are not liable for indirect or lost-profit losses. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for SciR Labs in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes

When we change these terms, we post a new version with a new date and version id, and you are asked to accept it in SciR Labs Admin. Price changes follow "Price and paying".

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. Courts in New York decide any dispute.
